This is ridiculous

You know what I think is absolutely ridiculous?

The idea that your body should stay the same throughout your entire life.

Over the years, I’ve seen my belly grow, and my skin stretch, to accommodate the birth of my children.

I’ve gone from a surfing, running, Ironman-competing, pretty dress-wearing woman to a sleep-deprived, milk-stained t-shirt wearing, frazzled woman, crying into her empty cup of coffee while tending to said children (and back again!).

And I’ve gone from being a conventionally attractive 20-something to a burn survivor lying in a hospital bed.

You are not the same person you were 5, 10, or 15 years ago.

It makes sense that your body doesn’t look the same, either.

So what if you decided to see the changes in your body as a good thing?

They make you human. Able to change, able to grow, able to experience all the good, and bad, and sad and hard, and glorious things that make up life.

You, my friend, are capable of change.
It is written all over your body.

And I think that’s wonderful.

Don’t you agree?
